Personal Projects

Forgot AI
April 2024
My AI playground. This is where I host an array of open-source AI projects, coded by me. I have a fascination with AI, and while researching it, I identified several potential products that didn't yet exist but were in demand. I couldn't just stand by waiting for large companies to develop these things, so I just made them myself and made them open source. I learned how to create a website from concept to launch, how to integrate a backend with advanced code, and how to maintain cost-effectiveness.
Pohakoo (New YouTube channel)
May 2020 - Current
I've always loved making videos. I started my first YouTube channel in April 2016, and made videos with my friends. In May 2020, I started a new channel called Pohakoo, where I make videos about whatever I'm interested in. While making content for this channel, I developed my fascination with VFX and video editing. I watch a hours and hours of content from channels that explain how VFX in movies are made.
Building my own computer
2019 - 2023
I've been building this computer for years. An iPad sufficed when I was young, but when my interests moved to advanced video editing and coding, I needed a PC. My parents were unable to buy one for me, but luckily, my dad's office threw out a really old one and he gave it to me. Then, I kind of Thesius's Ship'ed it, slowly replacing each part with an upgraded one, until the only evidence that this was the same computer was the software. Since this was very early on, this gave me a confidence in my ability to teach myself how to so something like this using YouTube tutorials and intuition.

Internships and Jobs

Swell AI
Jan 2024 - June 2024
SwellAI is a company that sells a service that specializes in content repurposing. I got a paid internship there in January of 2024 and got hands-on experience in industry-standard full-stack web development for a paid product. From this experience, I learned how to promote, communnicate, and monetize anything I create using the internet. If I ever create a cool script or AI model, that doesn't really matter unless I share it and allow others to use it, which is why learning full-stack development is important.
Dermatology Health Specialists
Oct 2023 - June 2024
At my school, Cascades Academy, all juniors apply for and participate in an internship for the whole school year. I was lucky enough to get a coding internship at a local company called Dermatology Health Specialists. I worked with the lead surgeon and CEO, Dr. Oliver Wisco, to create a customizable patient database and analytics tool. I taught myself how to create advanced logic using ReactJS, and navigated HIPAA compliance. My primary goal was to gather a dataset to train a model to identify skin cancer, and the product is designed to gather the dataset in a way that also improves doctors' lives; a valuable learning experience.
Camp CREATE Summer Camp
Jun - July 2023, 2022
I had an opportunity, after volunteering as a Counselor in Training for a year, to become a paid Junior Counselor for Cascades Academy's Camp Create. It was my job to assist the counselors in giving the 2nd-5th grade kids a fun time at camp, and my responsibilities included keeping the kids on task, cleaning, safety, and I also led my own one-hour curriculum. I learned the importance of helping my community, and how to work effectively with kids.
Commissioned Video Edit - MattBatWings
Dec 2022
MattBatWings, a YouTuber with over 200,000 subscribers, commissioned me to edit a recap of the videos he had made in 2022 for New Year, 2023. He is an amaizng Minecraft YouTuber and integrates low-level computer archetecture into a system in Minecraft called Redstone to create amazing interactive games and machines, with amazing explanations. I have been a fan of his channel for a long time.
Commissioned Video Edit - Cloaks+
March 2023
A company responsible for promoting a Minecraft software commissioned me to make an edit for their TikTok in a common Minecraft editing style. They have over 130,000 followers.
Pohakoo, LLC
March 2023
The LLC I created to do freelance and contracting business under. I mostly do video editing and commissioned coding.

School Projects and Achivements

Virtual Biology Lab
Oct 2021
I have huge respect for my freshman biology teacher this year, Mr. Yamamoto. I didn't want to dissect a rat because I don't like hurting animals, and he suprised me by asking what I wanted to be when I grew up. I already knew by this time that I wanted to be a programmer, so he said I could code a rat dissection simulation along with a breakdown of the human body. This made me love this class, and I worked for a long time to create something that I was really proud of. He then used it to teach my class. I'm so happy I got to do this project.
FRC Robotics
Sept 2022 - Present
My FRC robotics team. I joined the team when I joined the school, and I quickly became lead programmer. I've overseen coding for three different robots, and I coded in Java. I have also trained 3 other people with no programming experience to code the robot after I graduate. The autonomous code I wrote for our robot won the Autonomous Award sponsored by Ford at an official robotics competition. Our team has won first place in 4 competitions over 18 years, 2 of which were while I was on the team, during my sophomore and junior years (senior year competitions haven't started yet). I also created the website that you see when you click here.
Robotics Cone Dataset
August 2023
One of the challenges for my robotics team was to pick up yellow cones with our robot. Our robot design had a hard time picking up the cones from certain angles, so I created a Unity project that created and exported hundreds of pictures of yellow cones from different angles, rotations, lighting environments, etc, and used a convolusional neural network to get our robot to recognize which way the cone was facing. It was not completed in time for competition.
Short Film
Sophamore Year
Here is a film that I wrote, directed, and edited for my Film Club elective at school.
Vietnam Project
Sophamore Year
A simulaion of the Vietnam War I created as part of a research project.
Quantum computing simulation
Sophamore Year
A really cool interactive game I made as part of a current events project at school that explains quantum computing, its possibilities, and its implications.

Just for Fun

Piano
2020 - Present
Click to see me play "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons. I have never taken a piano lesson in my life, I learned how to do this by watching someone play it on YouTube.
PohakuRockstar (YouTube channel, 10 Y.O.)
April 2016 - Aug 2020
This YouTube channel is where I first started making videos with my friends, and adding simple VFX wherever I could. I loved editing, and used any free software I could get my hands on to make creative videos. I made videos on this channel ranging from electrical engineering and coding to spy skits I made with my friends in my neighborhood.
The Yummy Kitchen (YouTube channel, 13 Y.O.)
Jan 2019 - Dec 2019
I really like cooking and baking, and when I was young I made a YouTube channel deticated to it.
Wall PC
Oct 2023
A friend gave me an old PC from the 90s in return for fixing his main computer, and I thought it would be fun to take it apart, nail it all to a piece of wood, wire it back together, and nail it to my wall. It still works!
Minecraft
2015 - present
I am one of the top Minecraft players in the world across my two different accounts.
Stopping financial scams with code
Click here to see a video of me stopping a fraudulent operation which tries to steal money from people using code. I edited this video to optimize for viewer engagement.
iPhone repair
Click here to see a video of me repairing an iPhone 13 for the first time, bringing it from completely non functional to completely working. My account also has some other cool videos about editing and baking.
